all about pony and horse riding treks with Swaledale Ponies

Yorkshires first Western riding centre is situated at the top of Swaledale, 20 miles from Richmond, 25 miles from the A1 and 35 from the M6. It is surrounded by some of the most spectacular countryside in England, all of which can be reached by the network of bridleways close-by. Swaledale is one of the most beautiful valleys in the Yorkshire Dales. It remains unspoilt, relatively unchanged since its days as a thriving lead mining community, the ruins of which still remain today. It is famous for its Swaledale sheep and hill farming, boasts England's highest pub, the Tan Hill Inn, and its moors have a wealth of wildlife. Tan Hill is a major route through the Pennine Way and Coast to Coast walk. Named after the river Swale which can be traced from its source to Richmond, Swaledale is an exceptional stretch of countryside.
